Once You're There

We’re excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you

Downtown Fredericksburg

All walkable on or near Main Street, and easy to bounce between.

The Boutiques

150+ shops, but a few to start:
Vaudeville (fashion, art, and a bistro downstairs), Haberdashery (upscale women's), Hill Country Outfitters, and Magnolia Pearl (cult bohemian brand).

Plus, its open container and many of the stores sell wine slushies you can walk around with.

Don't sleep on the peach slushies!

Coordinates Vineyards

A downtown tasting room in an 1870s blacksmith shop. If you've never had wine from South Africa, here's your chance! They specialize in it, and it's one of the most exciting up-and-coming wine regions in the world.

The Pharmacy

Our favorite coffee stop. Set in the old 1906 Keidel pharmacy building (now part of the Albert Hotel), They have coffee, pastries, and a cute little market.

Wineries

There are over 75 wineries in the area, but here are some of our favorites!

Heath Sparkling Wines

For the Champagne lovers. Texas's first all-sparkling winery, done champagne-style.

Heads up: It's reservation-only, so book ahead. We recommend the Paired Sparkling Wine Tasting, which pairs their Champagne with small bites.

Signor Vineyards

This one's for the girls!
The prettiest winery in the area (literally named the most beautiful vineyard in Texas), especially during wildflower season, so be sure to stop for photos.

The Rhinory

The unique one. You taste wine at an actual rhino conservation reserve. (The Rhino's name is Blake)

William Chris Vineyards

If you only do one serious tasting, make it this. Arguably the best, most respected wine in the Hill Country, all Texas-grown fruit.
Reservations recommended.

Augusta Vin

This is one of the one's we're members of. If you extend your visit to a weekday (Monday-Thursday) be sure to check out their clubhouse as its open to everyone (non-members) during the week!

Hiking & other things to do

For when you need a break from the wine.

Enchanted Rock
(~18 min north)

The big hike. A giant pink granite dome with a short-but-steep summit trail and 360° views up top. Reserve a day pass ahead as it fills up fast.

Pedernales Falls State Park (~1 hr east)

The scenic hike. The river tumbles over layered limestone slabs into cascades and little falls you can climb around and explore. A bit of a drive, but the prettiest water in the area. Arrive early on weekends as it gets busy.

Wildseed Farms

One of the largest working wildflower farm in the country. Wander the fields for free (peak bloom is right around our wedding!), then hit the market for snacks and gifts.

Cross Mountain Park

If you want a quick hike one of the mornings, this is the one! A quick climb in town with great views of Fredericksburg and the hills. Free, no reservation, in and out.

Luckenbach, TX

The legendary tiny dance-hall town. Live music, cold beer, "everybody's somebody."

Altstadt Brewery

Authentic Bavarian beer, a huge biergarten, and Hill Country sunsets. Take the tour, grab a pretzel and beer cheese.
